Indiana Second At Legends

Franklin, Ind. - Senior Karen Dennison successfully defended her title at the Shoot-out at the Legends as she won her first tournament of the year, and fifth overall as a Hoosier to move into fifth all-time in school history for individual career titles.
As a team, Indiana shot a final round 293 to finish in second place at 879. This is the Hoosiers best finish at the Shoot-out at the Legends; as it broke the Indiana 18, 36 and 54-hole low round totals for the tournament. Indiana also set a new all-time three round low total, breaking the previous mark by six strokes.
Indiana was able to pick up six strokes on Kent State during the final round but finished two back, as Kent State was able to defend its team title with an 877.
Dennison shot a final round 69 to finish at 213, her second best three round total of her career and tied for second with Erika Wicoff on the Indiana individual three round low record.
"We knew we could shoot low scores and we knew we had a chance to come back and win if we did," Dennison said. "The team played well today and I am glad to see us shooting lower scores this week."
The other Hoosiers playing were senior Danah Ford who finished tied for fourth with a 217 (73-70-74). The 70 in the second round ties Ford's career low round. Her 36-hole total 143, breaks her previous mark by four strokes and her total 217 sets a new career 54-hole low.
Sophomores Molly Redfearn finished tied for 15th with a 221 (72-73-76) and Lissa Putnam finished tied for 56th with a 234 (85-73-76). Redfearn set new 18, 36 and 54-hole low round totals. She also recorded her best collegiate finish.
Senior Ambry Bishop shot her best round of the season with a final round 74 to finish in a tie for 60th at 235 (81-80-74).
Head coach Sam Carmichael was glad to see the team finish the tournament with lower scores than it had in the previous two tournaments.
"With Karen playing well, it gives us a good chance to win," Carmichael said. "Danah had three solid rounds, and Molly is improving every round."
Senior Mary Lidester competed for Indiana as an individual finishing in a tie for 31st at 227 (74-77-76).
Indiana will complete its fall season Oct. 31- Nov. 2 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
