Three Hoosiers Earn Big Ten Honors

Madison Wis.—Three Indiana women’s soccer players received honors from the Big Ten conference on Wednesday night. The eight qualifying teams attended a banquet on the University of Wisconsin’s campus on the eve of the Big Ten Tournament.
Junior midfielder Kim Grodek was named first-team All-Big Ten for her strong play throughout the 2003 season. Grodek, a native of Barrington, Ill., leads the Hoosier offense in points with 15 on seven goals and one assist. Grodek is the first Hoosier since 1998 to receive first-team All-Big Ten accolades.
Senior defender Carly Everett received second-team All-Big Ten honors for her contributions to the Hoosier defense. Everett, a Fort Wayne, Ind., product has three points on the season. She notched her first career goal during the Hoosiers final Big Ten match against Purdue and recorded one assist earlier in the season.
Freshman forward Megan Pipkens was named to the freshman All-Big Ten team. The Holt, Mich., native is second on the team in points with 10. She earned her points on four goals and two assists. Pipkens moved from a defender to a forward early in the season and has been a major contributor during the 2003 season

Tournament action gets underway tomorrow morning with the first game beginning at 10:30 a.m. No. 6 seed Indiana will take on No. 3 seed Purdue for the second game of the day.
