Bloomington, Ind. -- Four Indiana soccer players have been selected to the Great Lakes All-Region team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America recently announced. The Hoosiers headlined the first team as juniors Ned Grabavoy and Danny O'Rourke and sophomore Brian Plotkin were honored. Sophomore Drew Moor was the fourth Hoosier honored after receiving second-team accolades.
Grabavoy, a co-captain for the Hoosiers and a M.A.C Hermann Trophy Semi-Finalist, was named All-Region for the second time in his career after scoring 31 points on 10 goals and 11 assists. The forward was the Big Ten Conference's third leading scorer in league contests and earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten accolades. The Columbus, Ohio, native was also one of three unanimous first-team All-Big Ten selections. Grabavoy is currently competing in the World Youth Championships in the United Arab Emirates with the U.S. U-20 team.
O'Rourke, a defensive midfielder, is a member of the All-Region team for the first time in his career. The Hoosier co-captain has started in all 21 games he has played in and has been a major asset to the defense. In addition, O'Rourke earned Academic All-District accolades this season.
Plotkin is also making the first appearance of his career on the Great Lakes All-Region team. Plotkin is Indiana's second-leading scorer on the team with 22 points on seven goals and eight assists so far this season. The Lisle, Ill., product also made his first appearance on the 2003 All-Big Ten first team.
Moor, a defender for the Hoosiers, has capped an outstanding season thus far by earning second-team All-Region honors for the first time in his career. The Dallas, Texas, native was also a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten pick in 2003. Moor has notched one goal on the season. Moor, like fellow teammate Grabavoy, is also a member of the U.S. U-20 team and is currently competing in the World Youth Championships.
