IU to Host Michigan

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Wednesday's game will be a split feed with ESPN Plus Local and ESPN 2. This means that the Hoosiers could have as many as 18 national television appearances (March 8-9 Penn State game is TBD) this season.The Indiana-Michigan game features two of the nation's top freshmen - the Hoosiers' Bracey Wright and the Wolverines' Daniel Horton. Wright and Horton are the first freshmen in 11 years to earn mutiple Big Ten Player of the Week honors. Although this is the first time Horton and Wright have met collegiately, they are already quite familiar with each other. Wright, Deron Williams (currently with Illinois) and Bam Harmon (currently with Rhode Island) helped The Colony High School to a win over Horton and his Cedar Hill teammates in the 2001 Texas High School State Quarterfinals. Cedar Hill avenged that loss with a triumph over The Colony in last year's tournament.
Although Michigan State ended Indiana's 10-game homecourt winning streak on Feb. 8, the Hoosiers are hoping to maintain their six-game homecourt series winning streak against Michigan. IU has not lost to the Wolverines in Bloomington since Jan. 24, 1995 - 65-52.
Senior forward Jeff Newton, who is listed among Sports Illustrated's top six most improved players in the nation (Feb. 10 issue) became the 38th member of Indiana's 1,000 career point club when he scored 24 points against Michigan State.
Freshman Bracey Wright (20 points against the Spartans) had his first 20-plus point performance since Jan. 11 and his sixth of the season. The six 20-plus point performances are fifth-most ever by a Hoosier freshman.
