Stormy Hanson Named Big Ten co-Player-of-the-Week

Bloomington, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference has announced that it has recognized Indiana senior catcher Stormy Hanson as its co-Player-of-the-Week in the sport of softball for the week ending Sunday, February 16. Hanson shares the award with Wisconsin senior centerfielder Erin Barnharst. The pitcher of the week is Michigan State junior Jessica Beech.
Hanson was named to the New Mexico State Tournament All-Tournament Team following a five-game stretch in which she hit .625 (10-for-16) and racked up seven runs and six RBI. She led the Hoosiers to a 3-2 record, including victories over San Jose State, Eastern Illinois, and Bowling Green. She went a perfect 4-for-4 against Eastern Illinois on Valentine’s Day, belting a pair of doubles and a pair of triples in the 10-2 victory. She homered in the Hoosiers’ 8-3 win over Bowling Green on Sunday. For the week, she posted a 1.250 slugging percentage and was a perfect 5-for-5 on stolen-base attempts.
Hanson is Indiana's first Big Ten Player-of-the-Week in softball since 1996.
