Hoosiers Fall to Northwestern, 74-61

Evanston, Ill. - Despite season-high performances by both A.J. Moye and Donald Perry, the Hoosiers could not overcome a six point, 30-24 halftime deficit to end a four-game losing skid, falling to Northwestern in Evanston, 74-61.A.J. Moye led the Hoosiers with 14 points, going six-of-six from the field en route to scoring a season high. Freshman Bracey Wright added 12 points, three rebounds and two blocks. The double-digit performance marks the 16th of his inaugural season.
With his eight point performance Wednesday evening, Jeff Newton moves closer to becoming a member of IU's prestigious 1,000 career point club. He now needs just 13 points to become the 38th player in Hoosier history to hit 1,000 points.
The loss is the first to the Wildcats in 27 games. The last time Northwestern defeated the Hoosiers was Jan. 11, 1988 in Evanston, Ill. It is Mike Davis' first loss to the Wildcats in his head coaching tenure.
With the loss the Hoosiers fall to 14-7 overall and 4-4 in the Big Ten while Northwestern improves to 9-10 and 1-7 in conference play.
Indiana returns to the comfort of Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Ind. for a Sat., Feb. 8 contest against Michigan State. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPN.
