IU Drops 11-4 Loss to SDSU

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 13 Indiana women's water polo team dropped an 11-4 decision to No. 6 San Diego State in San Diego on Monday. The Hoosiers (15-7) trailed 4-3 at halftime, but could not stop the Aztecs in the second half.
Indiana freshman Courtney Livak scored the first goal of the game on a lob shot into the top right corner of the cage, giving the Hoosiers an early 1-0 lead. The Aztecs quickly responded with three goals of their own over the next four minutes. Hoosier sophomore Krista Peterson managed to work around her defender at two-meters with 13 seconds remaining in the first quarter, and netted the Hoosiers second goal of the game.
Senior Jamie Marley tied the game for the Hoosiers at 3-3, scoring on a 6-on-5 advantage for IU.
San Diego State would take control of the game from that point on, outscoring the Hoosiers 8-1 in the final 19 minutes. The lone Hoosier goal scored during over the stretch was by Bridget McKeon, on an assist from Marley.
Jessica Goldner was 10-of-24 in goal for the Hoosiers, while Indiana was just 4-of-21 on the offensive end.
The Hoosiers will next compete on Tuesday against No. 19 Arizona State. IU will face the Sun Devils at 4:00 MT.
