IU Falls in Season Finale to PSU

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Indiana men's basketball team ended its regular season schedule with a loss to Penn State, 74-66. The Hoosiers fall to 18-11 overall and 8-8 in the Big Ten as the Nittany Lions earn their second Big Ten victory improving to 7-20, 2-14 in conference play.Penn State jumped out to an early lead over the Hoosiers as they took its biggest lead of the first half, 18-8 with 14:22 remaining. Indiana fought back, taking the lead off a Donald Perry jump shot, 23-22, with 6:13 left in the stanza. IU went into intermission up 32-35.
Penn State's Aaron Johnson tied the game at 42 at the 15:19 mark. The Nittany Lions took the lead at 14:37 and never gave it up for the remainder of the night going on to win for the second time ever against the Hoosiers, 74-66.
It was the tale of two halves shooting the ball for the Hoosiers. IU had the hot hand in the first stanza shooting 51.9 percent from the floor but only shot 26.9 percent in the second half. Penn State had similar statistics but only reversed as it shot 34.4 percent in the first stanza and 56.0 percent in the second.
The Hoosiers were only able to hit four from behind the three-point arc, the first time in three games that IU has not made 10 or more treys.
Penn State had three players in double-digits as Jan Jagla led all scorers on the night with 25 points as teammates Sharif Chambliss added 22 and Aaron Johnson chipped in 10.
Bracey Wright led the way for the Hoosiers with 21-points and a season-high seven assists. This is the tenth time this season Wright has reached the 20-point mark and the first time that he has scored 20 plus points in three consecutive games.
Marshall Strickland was the only other Hoosier in double-digits, added 12 points for Indiana, all coming in the first half.
The Hoosiers are next in action at the Big Ten Tournament, which will be held in Chicago, Ill., from March 13-16. Brackets for the tournament will be released March 9.
