Hoosiers Head to Louisville for Spring Tournament

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana field hockey team will be traveling to Louisville, Ky., to participate in the University of Louisville 7 v 7 Tournament on Saturday, April 12 and turn around on Sunday, April 13 to play three 30-minute, full-field, 11 v 11 games.
Attending the tournament will be some of the premier teams in the nation. The 2002 defending National Champions, Wake Forest, will be competing this weekend as well as Louisville, Iowa, Ball State, Ohio University, Southwest Missouri State, Northwestern and a team consisting of coaches. The Hoosiers are in a pool with Louisville, Wake Forest, Iowa and Ball State.
"We are really excited about this tournament," head coach Amy Robertson said. "This tournament provides us with the best competition of the spring. It is a great opportunity to play the National Champions in your sport along with some other successful programs."
The team has been working hard throughout the spring season, devoting 4-5 days a week on the field and two days a week in the weight room Coach Robertson has already seen improvement since the fall.
"The team has improved this spring," Robertson said. "I have seen a lot of improvement in the hard work that the girls have put in during practice and weight training. We are interested to see how we match-up against the competition this weekend."
On Sunday the Hoosiers will face Southwest Missouri State at 10:05, Wake Forest at 11:50 and Big Ten foe Northwestern at 1:35. The game format on Sunday will be 30 minute, continuous, full-field contests.
