BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Tom Coverdale led the Portsmouth Sports Club team with eight assists in its 96-74 victory over the Norfolk Sports Club team on Thursday, April 10, at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is an annual tournament that features prospective NBA players. The tournament is being held from April 9-12 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth,Va.
Coverdale dished out a team-high eight assists compared to only two turnovers and recorded six points. Teammate Jermaine Boyette from Weber State led all scorers with 18 points while adding seven assists. Rick Anderson from Arizona recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Ryan Randle from Maryland led the Norfolk Sports Club with 16 points, while Brent Darby from Ohio State added 15.
The Portsmouth Sports Club team shot 52.9 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from behind the arc. The Portsmouth Sports Club team out-rebounded Norfolk Sports Club 38 to 36.
The Portsmouth Sports Club is back in action Friday, April 11, where they will go up against All-ACC Conference selection Drew Nicholas from Maryland and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Game time is set for 9:00 p.m.
