Getting Things Started
The Indiana University women's water polo team (23-9, 7-1) will compete in its ninth week of competition, Apr. 25-27, as the Hoosiers compete at the CWPA Eastern Championships

The event will be held at the Blodgett Pool on the campus of Harvard in Boston, Mass.

Indiana will first most likely battle George Washington, the No. 7 seed, who is favored over the No. 10 seed Wagner College. The Hoosiers will play their first game on Saturday, April 26, at 10:10 a.m. EST. With a win, Indiana will most likely face Princeton, the No. 3 seed overall, at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. If the Hoosiers defeat Princeton, IU will most likely face Michigan for the first-place title game. The championship match will be played at 2:50 p.m. on Sunday.

If Indiana should lose to Princeton, and Hartwick falls to Michigan, the Hoosiers would most likely face the No. 4 seed Hawks in the third-place match at 1:40 p.m. Sunday. However, if Hartwick does not advance, IU could face Brown or Gannon.

CWPA Southern Division Recap
The No. 15 Hoosiers finished the CWPA Southern Division Championships two weeks ago with a 3-1 record, falling to Michigan in the championship final.

IU opened with a 14-0 shutout against Grove City, followed by a 15-5 win over Villanova. Having not seen Princeton all year, Indiana defensively dominated the Tigers, 7-4. IU concluded Divisionals with a 6-2 loss to Michigan.

A Record-Breaking Weekend
In true All-American fashion, senior Kristin Stanford has turned in another stellar season. Stanford, Indiana's all-time scoring leader, has netted an Indiana record six goals in a game twice this year, and broke her own single-season scoring record for the third time in her career with 69 goals this year.

Stanford scored her record-breaking 67th goal in the Hoosiers 15-5 win over Villanova.

Sophomore Krista Peterson also set the school record for scoring, when she netted six goals against Villanova.

The Portland, Ore., native ties the record for most goals in a game -- a mark that has been reached six times, including four by Stanford.

Marley Probable For Easterns
Senior Jamie Marley has been listed as probable for the Eastern Championships, after x-rays showed no fracture to her jaw bone.

Marley sustained a kick to the mouth against Michigan and needed assistance getting in out of the pool.

X-rays at a nearby Lewisburg, Pa., hospital were inconclusive, and more tests were needed at Bloomington Hospital upon the Hoosiers return.

Eventually, Marley was cleared this past weekend by an oral surgeon back in her hometown of Ann Arbor, Mich., and returned to the Hoosier squad on Tuesday.

Looking For The Hardware
Regular and postseason awards will be handed out Friday at the annual CWPA banquet on the eve of the Eastern Championships.

A handful of Hoosiers are strong candidates for awards, including Kristin Stanford, Krista Peterson and Jessica Goldner.

McKeon a "Rookie" Candidate
Freshman Bridget McKeon is also among the list of Hoosiers up for an award. McKeon is a candidate for the inaugural Rookie of the Year award.

Having started in 23, and only missing one of the Hoosiers' 32 games this year, McKeon has netted 19 goals on 50 attempts. The Coronado, Calif., native has also recorded 16 assists and tallied 20 steals on the year. Her 19 goals are first among all Indiana freshmen, and sixth best on a Hoosier squad that is challenging the school record for scoring this year.

McKeon has certainly upped her stock for postseason honors in the past two weeks. In six of the last seven games, McKeon has contributed to Hoosier goals, either by scoring or assisting. At the CWPA Southern Division Championships, McKeon was 6-of-11 with three assists. Those three passes came in the Hoosiers' 15-5 win over Villanova, a game which McKeon was also 3-of-4 scoring.

Throughout conference and postseason play, McKeon has netted 14 goals on 28 shots, with 10 assists and eight steals.

Shutting Out The Opponents
While it took five years of varsity competition for the Hoosiers to shutout their opponents (Cal-Baptist, 7-0 last year), Indiana has now recorded three shutouts this season.

Indiana is coming off a 14-0 shutout against Grove City at the CWPA Southern Division Championships. Last month, IU blanked Washington & Jefferson 14-0 at the CWPA Weekend, and stopped LaVerne over Spring Break, 13-0.

Peterson Eyes Top-Five Scoring
In just two years, sophomore Krista Peterson has become a true scoring threat for the Hoosiers.

With 99 goals in her career, Peterson could move in to the top-five all-time scoring list with six goals over the remainder of the season. She is two goals shy of sixth-place Sheri Fagley's 101, and six shy of fifth-place Kelly McKay.

Currently, Peterson is second on the team in scoring with 45 goals.

Wang Stealing Her Way Up Chart
This year, senior Ginger Wang has turned in the best single-season steal performance since Sheri Fagley's 60 steals in 2000.

Currently, Wang is tied with Fagley, as their 60 seals are eighth-best all-time. It is likely that Wang will pass Fagley's mark of 63 steals in 1998 and move in to seventh on the single-season list.

King Notches Win No. 125
With a 15-4 victory over Gannon at the second CWPA Weekend, Indiana head coach Barry King captured his 125th win of his career. King, the lone coach in Hoosier water polo history, also coached in his 200th career game against Grove City, and now posts a 129-73-2 (.632) career coaching record.

Hoosiers Get 20th Win
Indiana defeated Grove City 12-1 in the final game of the second of two CWPA Weekends, marking the Hoosiers' 20th win of the season. Indiana has now eclipsed the 20-win plateau in five of its six varsity seasons

Meadows Steals The Show
Freshman Clare Meadows literally stole the show, concluding the first CWPA Weekend for the Hoosiers against Washington & Jefferson. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native tied a school record with nine steals, marking the first time a Hoosier as accomplished the feat since Kara Fellerhoff in April of 1999. The nine-steal mark has now been reach four times in the six years of the program.

Hoosiers Hit The Bullseye
IU hit the big "20" in the first CWPA Weekend against Mercyhurst, tying the school record for most goals in a game.

Clare Meadows scored with 0:00 left in the game to net the Hoosiers' 20th goal.

This marks the third time IU has hit 20 goals - the other two were remarkably on the same date, April 4, 1998. IU defeated Ohio, 20-1 and Notre Dame, 20-3.

That's Two In The Top Ten
Indiana's 9-7 victory over No. 10 UC-Santa Barbara at the Princeton Invitational marked only the second time in school history the Hoosiers defeated a top-ten team.

IU topped its first top-ten opponent, No. 7 San Jose State, earlier this year at the Michigan Invitational by a score of 10-8.
