With two wins Friday, Indiana will most likely face Princeton, the No. 2 seed overall, at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. If the Hoosiers defeat Princeton, IU will most likely face Michigan for the first-place title game. The championship match will be played at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. If Indiana should lose to Princeton, the Hoosiers would most likely face the No. 4 seed George Washington in the third-place match at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. However, if George Washington does not advance, IU could face Washington & Jefferson or host Bucknell. And speaking of that duo, the two co-captains are coming off a 10-8 win over top-seed and defending champion Hartwick College, as Princeton earned its third ECAC Championship in four years. In the title game, McCarthy-Beauvais scored four goals and Edwards had a goal, an assist, and a team-high six steals. Princeton is 18-4 on the season, with its four losses coming to No. 1 UCLA, UC-Santa Barbara-a team which Indiana has beaten-No. 6 San Diego State, and No. 7 Loyola Marymount. The Tigers are coming off a key win over their Spring Break as well, as they defeated No. 10 UC-San Diego in its home pool, 6-5 in overtime. Kristie Dickey is in her first season with the Hoosiers. Known nationwide as a former player, Dickey was a four-time United States Water Polo All-American at the University of California-Davis from 1991-95. Dickey led the Aggies to a USWP National Collegiate title in 1993, while being named most valuable player for her efforts. Dickey also was a part of the Aggies squad that placed second in 1992 and recorded back-to-back third-place finishes in 1994 and 1995. Daily wrap-ups on each game will be available at IUHOOSIERS.com. Getting Things Started
The Indiana University women's water polo team (20-8, 7-1) will compete in its eighth week of competition, Apr. 11-13, as the No. 14 Hoosiers open up their postseason at the CWPA Southern Division Championships
The event will be held at the Arthur J. Kinney Natatorium on the campus of the Bucknell in Lewisburg, Pa.
Indiana will play Grove City at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, and will follow with Villanova at 8:45 p.m. Indiana will most likely face Princeton at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. With a win against the Tigers, IU will battle Michigan at 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
The top five finishers out of both the Northern and Southern Divisions, including two at-large selections, will advance to the 12-team Eastern Championships, April 25-27, in Boston, Mass. The winner of the Eastern Championships (Michigan in 2002) will earn one of the four spots at the NCAA Championships, May 10-11, at UC-San Diego in La Jolla, Calif.
Potential Outlook
Indiana will first battle both teams in its bracket, facing Grove City at 3:45 p.m. EST on Friday, followed by Villanova at 8:45 p.m. In the second round of competition, teams in Brackets B, C & D take on new designations, dependent upon their record within their brackets. All advancement is determined by won/loss records. Teams tied in wins use goal differentials with common opponents to determine who advances.
"Princeton is a team that we have not played against this year, but have had a strong and competitive history with. They have two of the strongest players in the East (Adele McCarthy-Beauvais and Jenny Edwards). Princeton is always a tough game for us."

Barry King Live...
"Obviously any weekend in postseason play is important for us, because we need to play every game as if it is our last. It was key for us to take a week off because we had some girls that were either sick or pretty banged up. We're ready to go now though, and we're ready to win."
"Nothing But Your Best..."
Two weeks ago, Indiana head coach Barry King invited another Hoosier coach to speak to the Hoosiers as they began to enter the final stage of their season.
IU Men's Soccer coach Jerry Yeagley, a five-time National Coach of the Year, spoke with the water polo team for nearly 20 minutes, refocusing the Hoosiers on their run to their first NCAA Appearance.
Yeagley, certainly a creditable speaker, has won five NCAA titles while at Indiana.
"From here on out, nothing but your best is acceptable," he said. He also noted that water polo has done nothing but add to the success of IU athletics. "The success of the water polo team has greatly contributed to the success of our athletics department. Keep your heads high, and continue to wear Indiana on your suits with pride. Ladies, we are all very proud of you of what you have done so far."
CWPA Weekend No. 2 Recap
The No. 14 Hoosiers finished their CWPA Conference play with four wins at the second of two CWPA Weekends. Indiana improved to 7-1 in the CWPA with wins over Penn State-Behrend (15-3), Slippery Rock (15-2), Gannon (15-4), and Grove City (12-1).
History To Be Made This Weekend
Kristin Stanford is set to break her own school record single-season scoring mark this weekend at the CWPA Southern Championships.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native needs just three goals to break her own school record.
Having established the record in 2002 with 66 goals, Stanford was 45-of-132 (.341) through the first 28 games of the season.
Through the first 28 games of 2003, Stanford is 64-of-138 (.464) in scoring. In 2002, she did not reach the 64 goal mark until the Hoosiers' 34th game last year. Stanford finished that game scoring three goals on eight shots to make her 64-of-167 (.383).
Hoosiers Eye Scoring Record
Last year's Indiana ballclub set the school record for single-season scoring with 353 goals. The Hoosiers are giving quite the challenge to the record this year, having scored 265 goals over 28 games. In 2002, IU had netted 277 goals in the first 28 games.
King Notches Win No. 125
With a 15-4 victory over Gannon at the second CWPA Weekend, Indiana head coach Barry King is won his 125th win of his career. King, the lone coach in Hoosier water polo history, also coached in his 200th career game against Grove City, and now posts a 126-72-2 (.630) career coaching record.
Hoosiers Get 20th Win
Indiana defeated Grove City 12-1 in the final game of the second of two CWPA Weekends, marking the Hoosiers' 20th win of the season. Indiana has now eclipsed the 20-win plateau in five of its six varsity seasons
Shutting Out The Opponents
While it took five years of varsity competition for the Hoosiers to shutout their opponents (Cal-Baptist, 7-0 last year), Indiana has now recorded two shutouts in back-to-back weeks this season. IU blanked Washington & Jefferson 14-0 a month ago at the CWPA Weekend, and stopped LaVerne over Spring Break, 13-0.
Goldner Nearing Save Record
Not only did sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Goldner set her career high of 17 saves against Cal State-San Bernardino over Spring Break, but she also eclipsed the 300 save mark for her career.
Her 17 saves against the Coyotes were just two shy of the school record, and the second best performance since Kate Toole's 17 blocks against Slippery Rock in 1998.
The Los Altos Hills, Calif., native currently has 203 saves on the season and 368 for her career.
Butt Kickin' In CWPA Play
Senior Sarah Butler proved to be a dominant force for the Hoosiers this year in CWPA Conference play. The Worthington, Ohio product scored on 13-of-18 shots over eight games, while recording 11 steals and five assist as well.
Meadows Steals The Show
Freshman Clare Meadows literally stole the show, concluding the first CWPA Weekend for the Hoosiers against Washington & Jefferson. The Mission Viejo, Calif., native tied a school record with nine steals, marking the first time a Hoosier as accomplished the feat since Kara Fellerhoff in April of 1999. The nine-steal mark has now been reach four times in the six years of the program.
Hoosiers Hit The Bullseye
IU hit the big "20" in the first CWPA Weekend against Mercyhurst, tying the school record for most goals in a game.
Clare Meadows scored with 0:00 left in the game to net the Hoosiers' 20th goal.
It marks the third time IU has hit 20 goals - the other two were remarkably on the same date, April 4, 1998. IU defeated Ohio, 20-1 and Notre Dame, 20-3.
Nice While It Lasted
Indiana's nine-game win streak was ended by Michigan in a heartbreaking overtime loss at the first CWPA Weekend. The streak had been the best stretch for the Hoosiers since 2000, when they won 11 games straight.
Blood, Sweat, And Tears
At the first CWPA Weekend in Michigan, Indiana's Krista Peterson had quite the adventure. The sophomore from Portland, Ore., played her first two games scoring five goals on seven shots. She also recorded an assist and a steal, while only committing one turnover.
Against Michigan, Peterson took an elbow to the mouth at the end of the third quarter and was forced to leave. She did not return. Peterson was examined by the medical staff after the game and was given treatment to a cut under her right eye, and two stitches to her upper lip. She did not play against Washington & Jefferson.
That's Two In The Top Ten
Indiana's 9-7 victory over No. 10 UC-Santa Barbara at the Princeton Invitational marked only the second time in school history the Hoosiers defeated a top-ten team.
IU topped its first top-ten opponent, No. 7 San Jose State, earlier this year at the Michigan Invitational by a score of 10-8.
A Look Inside the Hoosiers' Opponents...
Grove City
Indiana is coming off a dominant 12-1 performance against Grove City. The Hoosiers concluded the final CWPA Conference Weekend, played two weeks ago at Washington & Jefferson, with a victory over GCC. In that game, the Hoosiers were without key players Courtney Livak, Courtney Thom, Clare Meadows and Kristy Streefkerk. Indiana is undefeated against Grove City, winning all three games in the series, and has outscored GCC, 41-6.
Villanova
Friday will mark the first time the Hoosiers have played the Wildcats since last year's Southern Division Championship, which was played at Villanova. Indiana defeated Villanova 19-5, while breaking numerous records in the process. The Hoosiers tied both the steals and assists school records with 25 and 18, respectively. Indiana's 19 goals were also one shy of the school record for scoring. IU is 5-0 all-time against Villanova, and has outscored the Wildcats, 76-28.

No. 2 in CWPA Poll
While Indiana has met the Tigers both at the Princeton Invitational and on Spring Break this year, IU has not played against them since the Hoosiers defeated the Tigers for third place in last year's Eastern Championships, 11-10. That particular win, snapped a seven game losing streak for the Hoosiers against Princeton. Indiana is just 2-7 all-time against the Tigers, and has been outscored by Princeton, 74-62. Hoosier head coach Barry King mentioned two top Princeton players as "two of the best in the East." Those Tigers are senior two-meter offense Adele McCarthy-Beauvais, and senior two-meter defender Jenny Edwards. Both however, are dominant scoring threats against Indiana. Last year, Princeton outscored Indiana 30-27 in three games, with 17 of those goals coming from the Tiger duo. McCarthy-Beauvais netted 12 against the Hoosiers, while Edwards scored five.
Michigan
No. 10 in National Poll
No. 1 in CWPA Poll
Michigan is obviously the fiercest rival the Hoosiers face each season. While the Wolverines are now 10-0-1 against the Hoosiers since during varsity three years ago, five of those games have gone into overtime, including an 8-7 overtime thriller in Ann Arbor this past January. Last year, Indiana fell 11-7 to the Maize & Blue at the Southern C
With former Indiana assistant Matt Anderson in his first year at the helm, Michigan has compiled a record of 16-9, including 8-0 in conference play, which earned them the No. 1 seed. The Wolverines enter postseason play fresh off a landmark victory, surprising No. 9 San Jose State, 6-4, at the Arizona State Desert Challenge on April 6. The ninth-ranked Spartans are the highest ranked team Michigan has ever defeated.
Sheetal Narsai, Julie Nisbet and Erin Brown provide a strong offensive trio for Michigan, while sophomore goalkeeper Betsey Armstrong is arguably the most dominant defensive player in the East, and one of the best goalies in the country.
Indiana Head Coach Barry King (6th Year)
Barry King is in his sixth season at Indiana. In 2002, King and his 21-14 Hoosiers were just shy of making the NCAAs for the fourth time in five years. In 2003, IU has eclipsed the 20-win mark for the fifth season in its six-year existence. King also won his 125th victory in 2003 and currently holds a 126-72-2 (.630) career coaching record.
The Madera, Calif., native also coached the IU club team for three years before it earned varsity status.
