Cary Named Academic All-District

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Indiana University senior Jacob Cary has been named to the College Sports Information Director's of America Academic All-District V baseball team, the organization announced on Thursday. Cary is one of two pitchers on the 11-player squad.
Cary has been the Hoosiers' No. 1 starter on the mound this season, compiling a 7-2 record. He is tied for the team lead with 10 starts and has pitched six complete games, including a 4-0 shutout at Illinois to open the Big Ten Conference season and give IU head coach Bob Morgan his 1,000th career win. The Bruceville, Ind., native sports a 4.52 ERA in 67.2 innings pitched.
A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Cary ranks 14th in school history with 31 games started and tied for 15th with 10 complete games. Cary and the other 10 players on the All-District V team will now move on to the national ballot where they will be candidates for Academic All-American.
Cary and the Hoosiers are currently 29-17 on the season and tied for the fifth in the Big Ten Conference race. IU hosts Purdue this weekend for a four-game series that starts on Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. Action continues on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. and concludes on Sunday at 3 p.m. All four games will be played at Sembower Field.
