b>Palo Alto, Calif. - Three Indiana track and field athletes competed during the first day of the USA Track and Field Championships Thursday in Palo, Alto, Calif.
In the women's 100m dash, sophomore Ara Towns advanced to Friday's semifinal with a time of 11.47. Rachelle Boone's time of 11.65 was not fast enough to move into the semifinal round. Junior Tom Burns competed in the 3000m steeplechase but did not qualify, crossing the finish line in 8:52.06.
Friday's schedule includes Adam Judge in the hammer throw (7:35 p.m. EST) and Towns in the 100m semis (7:55 p.m.). The 100m final is slated for a 9:40 p.m. start. John and Sean Jefferson compete in the 1500m (10:20 p.m.)
