Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana sophomore linebacker Kyle Killion was recognized as a Spring Star and a potential breakout player for the 2003 season on FoxSports.com.
The website reported that "If you wanted to know where the ball was this spring, all you had to do was keep your eyes on #43. Killion had a breakout spring at middle linebacker, tackling everything in sight."
Killion registered five tackles, including two for loss and a sack, in the Hoosiers' Spring Game. Killion emerged during the spring as a player that seemed to always be around the ball causing trouble for the offense.
As a freshman last year, the Kingwood, Texas native (Kingwood HS) had 28 tackles, including 3.5 for loss, a sack and a forced fumble. He missed five games due to injury, but established himself as a solid player prior to the setback. Killion saw 68 snaps of action against Utah in the second game of the season and tallied a season-high seven tackles (five solo) against Purdue in the season finale.
Killion comes from an athletic family, as his father played on Oklahoma's 1974 national championship team, one brother plays football at Colorado and his other brother plays baseball at Oklahoma.
