Morgan Miller Named National Rookie of the Week

Bloomington, Ind. - For the first time in Indiana field hockey history, a player has received one of the womensfieldhockey.com's top national weekly awards. IU freshman back Morgan Miller was named the National Rookie of the Week by womensfieldhockey.com.
Miller led the Hoosiers in the back with two defensive saves in Saturday's 1-0 victory against Central Michigan.
On Monday, Miller became only the second Indiana field hockey player to receive Big Ten Player of the Week honors when she was named Big Ten Conference Field Hockey Co-Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending Aug. 31.
In her collegiate debut, Miller's two defensive saves helped Indiana to two shutout victories against defending co-MAC conference champions Central Michigan and Miami (Ohio).
"It's great that Morgan is receiving all these awards," said head coach Amy Robertson. "The honors Morgan has received are not only great for her but for the team. A lot of recognition has been brought to the Indiana program. Center back is usually a position that doesn't get a lot of recognition, so it means even more for her to be receiving these honors."
Miller and the rest of the 2-0 Hoosiers return to action in Muncie, Ind. to face 2-0 Ball State Friday, Sept. 5, at 3:00 p.m. and Southwest Missouri State Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1:00 p.m.
