Early Goals Downs Indiana

With the loss IU drops to 8-4-1, 3-3-1 in the Big Ten, while Michigan improves to 9-3-2, 6-1-1 in the conference.
Just like in Friday night win over Michigan State, Indiana came out on fire with two early shots in the first minute and a half of play, but both attempts were turned away by Megan Tuura, the Michigan goalkeeper.
Therese Heaton then broke down the Hoosier defense and lifted a shot to the left just past a diving Lauren Fabbro.
"We played a good tough game and besides that goal, we played better then them for 89 minutes," said head coach Mick Lyon. "We had a few mistakes on that defensive transition, and I always say if you have three or four mistakes on defense the end result will be a goal."
Indiana had its chances, especially near the net as the Hoosiers attempted nine corner kicks on the day, compared to just two for the Wolverines.
"We work on those special plays all week long," said Lyon. "We just were not able to connect on any of those plays."
The Cream and Crimson had one more attempt to tie the game, but freshman Kristin Radcliffe's header at 89:51 hit the crossbar to prevent the game-tying goal.
Indiana will now open a four-game road swing beginning with a trip to Evanston, Ill. to play Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 15. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
