Hoosiers Suffer Overtime Loss -

With the loss IU dropped to 8-5-1, 3-4-1 in the Big Ten, while NU improved to 8-6-1, 4-4-0 in the conference.
"We really outplayed them today," said head coach Mick Lyon. "The stats may not show that, but we played a better soccer game and we just got unlucky today."
With just under three minutes left to play in the first overtime, the Wildcats lined up for a corner kick. The ball sailed right into the box and a scrum occurred in front of the net. NU's Ashleight Garmon was able to take control of the ball and put a shot just by Hoosier goalie Lauren Fabbro for the game-winning goal.
"We did not do a good job of clearing the ball," said Lyon. "Either way we had many chances to score and we just couldn't get the ball in the net."
IU and Northwestern each recorded 12 shots in the contest, while the Hoosiers owned the edge in corner kicks by a 5-3 margin. Fabbro stopped four shots on the night but took the hard-luck loss.
"I was happy with our effort," said Lyon. "The only reason I am disappointed is with the end result, but we played real hard."
Indiana returns to the field on Sunday, Oct. 17, as the Hoosiers travel to No. 24 Illinois. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
