Trio of Matches on Deck for IU

The Indiana Hoosiers continue their road trip as they are scheduled to play three games this week. On Tuesday, IU travels to Oxford, Ohio, to take on Miami (Ohio) at 5 p.m. before heading to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. to take on Central Michigan on Friday Oct. 22 at 3 p.m.
On Sunday, IU will face off against Big Ten power No. 3 Michigan State at 1 p.m. in East Lansing, Mich.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Miami (Ohio) is led by sophomore Danielle Perrecone. Jill Reeve, who is in her first season, coaches the RedHawks.
Central Michigan is led by sophomore Erica Takach. Classmate Danielle Frank and freshman Sarah Mancuso has each split time in the net this season. CMU is coached by Cristy Freese, who is in her 18th year.
Big Ten co-leader and third ranked Michigan State is led by two outstanding players in senior Veerle Goudswaard and junior Annebet Beerman. Two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week goalkeeper Christina Kirkaldy anchors the defense. Michigan State is coached by Michele Madison, who is in her 11th season.
THE SERIES
Indiana has split its four meetings with Miami (Ohio) as it has won the last two games. IU defeated the RedHawks, 7-0 last season in Bloomington.
This is the third meeting between Indiana and Central Michigan. The series is tied at one game each, with Indiana winning last year's game, 1-0, in Bloomington.
Michigan State leads the all-time series with the Hoosiers 6-0, including a 3-1 win last year at the Big Ten tournament.
THE LAST TIME OUT
On Friday, Oct. 8, Indiana dropped a 2-1 decision to Northwestern. IU got a goal from freshman Meredith Brown. Senior goalkeeper Katie Kanara recorded ten saves in the loss.
Against New Hampshire, IU pocketed goals from junior Lesley Wiler and the game-winning goal from freshman Kate O'Connell. Kanara added two saves.
SCHROTT SITS ATOP ASSISTS RECORDS
With an assist this weekend, sophomore Lydia Schrott raised her career point total to 35 points.
Schrott owns the school record for points in a season with 20.
HOOSIERS TIE WIN MARK
With their 2-1 win over New Hampshire, the Indiana Hoosiers tied the school record for most wins in a season.
HOOSIERS SET TEAM RECORDS With a 7-1 victory over Lindenwood on Sunday, Sept. 12, IU set a record with its fourth-straight home win, breaking the previous mark of three set from the end of the 2002 season until the beginning of the 2003 season.
With Jodi Murphy's overtime goal against Louisville, the Hoosiers set a team record for consecutive games with a goal at seven.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
Entering this weekend's games, of IU's 31 goals, 11 different Hoosiers have chipped in a score. Also IU, has had eight different players record an assist.
SCHROTT TIES SCHOOL RECORDS IN IU WIN
Against Lindenwood on Sept. 12, Lydia Schrott tied two school records with her performance. Against the Lions, Schrott tied the school record for most goals in a game with two and most points in a game with five.
Former Hoosier Brooke Magers was the only Hoosier to score five points, which she accomplished against Bellarmine on October 1, 2000.
SCHROTT BREAKS RECORD
With three points, against Bucknell on Oct 3, sophomore Lydia Schrott raised her career total to a school-record 34 points breaking the previous mark of 32 set by Erica Nilsson.
RELIABLE SCHROTT
Forward Lydia Schrott has provided a constant scoring threat for the Hoosiers during the 2004 season. The Quarryville, Pa., native has scored at least one point in 10 of the 14 IU matches this year.
TEAM SETS ASSIST RECORD
With three assists during the weekend of Oct. 2-3 the Hoosiers raised their season total to 21, the most in school history bettering the previous mark of 15, set in 2003. To date, IU has recorded 24 assists.
With two goals this week, the Hoosiers will break the school record for the most goals in school history, breaking the previous record of 32 that was set in 2003.
WOOLSEY EARNS HONOR
Indiana junior backfielder Ryan Woolsey was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for her performance for the week ending Sept. 8. The St. Louis, Mo., native helped the Hoosiers to improve to 3-1 on the season with a triumph over Ball State, 3-0, on Friday, Sept. 3, and a, 4-3, overtime victory over Southwest Missouri State on Sunday, Sept. 5.
Woolsey and the IU defense held Ball State to just one shot in the first half and five shots for the game, including only three shots on goal. Against the Bears, Woolsey made key defensive stops to preserve the overtime win.
Northwestern forward Candice Cooper took Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors.
HOOSIERS SET SCHOOL SHOT MARK
With 33 shots attempted against Southwest Missouri State on Sunday, Sept. 5, the Hoosiers bettered the previous record of 31 shots attempted set by the Indiana squad of 2002 against Lindenwood on Oct. 20, 2002.
IU also fell one penalty corner short of the school record of 15 set against Lindenwood. IU took 14 penalty shots against the Bears.
UP NEXT
The Hoosiers return home for the first time in a month as they play host to Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 29 and Saint Louis on Sunday, Oct. 31. The Hoosiers take on the Buckeyes at 3 p.m. and face the Billikens at 2 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Mellencamp Pavilion.
