Opening Statement:GD: "The off week has given us a chance to heal up. It has given us a chance to do some recruiting. It has also given us a chance to get back to some of the basic things that we have been doing, especially on offense with regard to some formations and plays we started the season with. It is time to get back to work today."
On the bye week:
GD: "We recruited Friday [Oct. 8] before Northwestern. Then the coaches were on the road on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday [Oct. 11-13]. Myself, Steve [Addazio] and Joe [Cullen] didn't travel, you are only allowed seven of the ten coaches, but we watched a lot of video to get a feel of the guys we are recruiting. Then the players had off Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. We came back on Wednesday and practiced Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They had off Saturday and then we practiced Sunday. We had off yesterday and will practice today."
On the upcoming game with Ohio State:
GD: "They are a younger team then they have been. The one thing that is different from this year's team is experience. They are playing with a younger team than they have the last couple of years. Even though they are young, they have had success in the background. They know what it is like to win. There is a reference point that they know how to get back, too."
On goals for the rest of the season:
GD: "It's week to week. Our goal this week is to get ready and play the best we can against Ohio State. It's another away game in conference. When you get into conference play, its one game at a time."
On the recent play of wide receiver Jahkeen Gilmore:
GD: "Jahkeen has worked really hard. I think that everyone knows Jahkeen has a lot of talent. I think it is a combination of his work ethic and Coach Bob McConnell bringing him along as a player."
On the wide receiving core as a whole:
GD: "I think that they have worked really hard. They are a veteran group. I think schematically, what the offensive coaches have done, has put them in a position to make plays. I think it energizes a group when they work hard all week at practice and know they have a chance to do it on Saturday. I think the coaches have done a good job putting the wide receivers in a position to play."
