Both Meeuwsen's goals came off penalty corners, the first goal coming in the first half at the 33:43 mark after Lesley Wiler drew the penalty inside the box. With the Hoosiers up 1-0 heading into the second half of action, Meeuwsen would give the Hoosiers breathing room with her second goal of the game at the 62:23 mark. This time Lydia Schrott would draw the penalty after she sliced through the circle forcing the Hoosiers to set up for another free shot.
"We really came together and played as a whole today," said head coach Amy Robertson. "We played smart and had a lot of shot opportunities throughout the game. It was great."
Katie Kanara helped the cause in goal as she stopped seven shots en route to recording her second shutout of the season.
"It was great to get a win like this heading into the Michigan State game on Sunday," said Robertson. "Hopefully we can keep our focus and confidence in order to make something good happen against one of the toughest teams we will face all year."
Meeuwsen is no stranger to scoring points for the Hoosiers. Earlier this week, she notched two goals in one game when Indiana defeated Miami Ohio, 2-1 in overtime.
After a three-game non-conference skid, the Hoosiers will return to Big Ten action on Sunday, Oct. 24, when they travel to East Lansing, Mich., to take on Michigan State. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
