'I thought that we played really well in the first half," said Head Coach Amy Robertson. "We came out and played aggressive from the start.
While the Hoosiers played aggressively, the Spartans got on the board first. MSU scored 2:15 into the first half as Annebet Beerman scored off an assist from Jessica Miller on a corner. "They ran a nice play to score the first goal early on a corner," said Robertson.
Michigan State added a pair of goals, one late in the first half and one early in the second half, to widen its lead to 3-0.
IU got on the board at 63:34 of the second frame on a goal by junior Nikki Orciuch, assisted by freshman Frederique Meeuwsen.
After a pair of MSU goals, Meeuwsen added a late, unassisted goal for the Hoosiers.
Meeuwsen has been on fire the last three games of the road swing, contributing to all six IU goals. To go along with her goal and assist today, she added a pair of goals against Miami (Ohio) and Central Michigan.
"Frederique had an amazing week," said Robertson. "She was a part of every goal we scored the last three games."
The Cream and Crimson will return to action at home on Friday, Oct. 29, at 3:00 p.m., in their Big ten finale versus Ohio State. The Hoosiers will finish their regular season docket on Saturday, Oct. 30, against St. Louis, for Senior Day, at 2 p.m.
