BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's basketball program continued its preparation for the Hoosiers second exhibition of the season on Friday, Nov. 12, as the Cream andCrimson host the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
Head coach Mike Davis and junior Sean Kline give their take on this week's practice.
Head Coach Mike Davis
On what to see in second exhibition game
MD: "The best thing about this game is we have 11 days before our season opener against Indiana State. It is important for us to continue to get better. Last game we got 19 assists and we made 37 field goals, we also got 20 points in transition. We are really going to try to focus in getting more transition baskets."
Where you would like to see improvement
MD: "This is an impatient period from a coach's standpoint, you want every thing ready right now and that's not the case. I just want to continue to get better in transition and set better screens, read screens better and rebound better."
Junior Forward Sean Kline
On improving from last exhibition game to this exhibition game
SK: "We want to improve defensively. I think last game we had a little bit of a let down, especially the last five or six minutes. At times we weren't really focused towards the end of the game from a defensive standpoint. We also need to get better on the boards."
On ball movement
SK: "Everybody is being unselfish and looking for each other. We can't always look for one person. Our guards are always willing to make the extra pass."
On starting or coming off the bench
SK: "I am comfortable either way. Last year I started half the games. Sometimes I feel that by coming of the bench you get a better feel for the game and are able to bring in energy if there is a let down."
On younger players
SK: "Their progression has been great, especially Pat's improvement from last year until this year. He is just so long and athletic and plays the game so well. D.J. White is also long and athletic and is going to be a beast on the blocks."
