Senior Katie Pollom led IU with 14 kills, while her classmate Christina Archibald notched 12 kills of her own. Sophomore Tasha Arsenych served as the primary setter with 40 assists, while freshman Juli Pierce posted 10 digs.
In the first frame, the Fighting Illini out-hit Indiana, .333-.171, to take a 30-20 triumph and a 1-0 lead in the match. The game featured two ties and two lead changes.
In the second stanza, the fans witnessed more of the same as Illinois registered a .405 hitting percentage compared to Indiana's .182 en route to a 30-18 victory and a 2-0 lead in the contest. The early portion of the game, however, proved to be the most exciting of the evening as there were five ties and three lead changes early on.
Illinois closed out the Hoosiers in the third game with a 30-22 win to claim the match, 3-0. The Fighting Illini kept getting stronger as the night progressed with a .469 success rate at the net compared to IU's team-high of .364.
Junior Rasa Virsilaite paced a trio of Illinois players with double-digit kills by putting away 13 balls. Freshman Jen Hynds notched 11 kills, while junior Jessica Belter drilled 10. Freshman Stephanie Obermeier served up 38 helpers as part of a rare double-double with 11 digs.
Next up, Indiana travels to Iowa on Nov. 18 at 7 p.m., before closing out its road slate at Minnesota on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m.
