BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana men's basketball team continued its training on Thursday, November 18. The Hoosiers continue preparation for the season opener against in-state rival Indiana State, Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m. in Assembly Hall. Here are a few comments from Thursday's practice by head coach Mike Davis along with junior Sean Klein and sophomore Pat Ewing, Jr.
Head Coach Mike Davis
On defensive communication
MD: "It's important to talk and let your teammates know where you are and what is going on, for example when screens are coming. In the last exhibition game we allowed a backside screen and if we would have been communicating that wouldn't have happen."
On Practice
MD: "It's been good. We have had some good days and some bad days. They have been working extremely hard. "
On first game
MD: "We don't have much of a honeymoon. We need to get it going the first game against Indiana State. They have beaten us the last two times we have played them. We got to be ready. We need to come out and play at the highest level on intensity and at the strongest level of communication. "
Junior Forward Sean Klein
On Practice
SK: "For the most part we have played very well. There has been some letdowns at times but when practice is three hours long there is going to be times when there is a let down. We have done a great job with intensity. We have accomplished some things we need to work on."
On First game expectations
SK: "First of all we want to win. We want everything correct that we did wrong in the last game. We want to be intense and run our offense and defense good."
Sophomore Forward Pat Ewing, Jr.
On the newcomers
PE: "They are all going to contribute this season. D.J. White was a McDonald's All-American and he has practiced big for us. He is an improvement from last season at the power position. He is great offensively and is becoming great defensively. A.J. Ratliff and Robert Vaden will play big this year."
On what he improved on
PE: "I worked on the little things this past summer. I worked on improving my shot, getting bettered conditioned and on my defense."
