IU Falls to Wisconsin, 3-1

IU's outgoing seniors proved that they wanted a win in their final match of their careers as Katie Pollom drilled 24 kills and Christina Archibald followed with 20. Archibald notched a big double-double with a career-high 21 digs as well. Sophomore Tasha Arsenych served as the primary setter with 53 assists, while freshman Juli Pierce tallied 21 digs of her own.
Additionally, Pollom finished her career as only the fifth Hoosier to close out a season with over .300 hitting after connecting at a .306 clip this year.
In the first frame, both squads battled back and forth as there were 12 ties and five lead changes between the Hoosiers and Badgers. In the end, however, Wisconsin took a 1-0 lead with a 30-26 win after out-hitting IU, .390-.265. In the second stanza, Wisconsin stretched its lead to 2-0 with a 30-26 triumph even though Indiana forced seven ties.
The Hoosiers came out of intermission on a mission as they plowed through the Wisconsin defense with a .354 hitting percentage in a 30-27 conquest to cut the Badger margin down to 2-1. Unfortunately, Wisconsin proved to be too much in the fourth frame as the Badgers closed out the match with a 30-27 win to capture the contest, 3-1.
Senior Aubrey Meierotto paced a trio of Wisconsin hitters with 19 kills, while junior Sheila Shaw notched 14 and senior Jill Odenthal put-away 13. Meierotto and Odenthal also recorded double-doubles with 13 and 10 digs each, while freshman Jackie Simpson served as Wisconsin's primary setter with 54 helpers. Additionally, freshman Jocelyn Wack swept the floor with 24 digs.
