BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Former Indiana men's basketball standout Kirk Haston was selected by the Florida Flame with the fifth pick in the 2004 National Development Basketball League (NBDL) Draft, held in Atlanta on Nov. 5.Haston, who was a junior in Mike Davis' first year as head coach at Indiana, played for the Hoosiers from 1998-2001. While at IU, Haston earned All-American honors in 2001 when he averaged 19 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest. For his three-year career, Haston averaged 14.6 points and 7.8 rebounds, while playing in 96 contests starting 68 times.
Haston concluded his career at IU ranked 17th in school history with 1,406 points scored and finished ninth in career rebounds with 748. He earned All-Big Ten first team honors as a junior and second team recognition as a sophomore.
Previously, the Charlotte Hornets selected Haston with the 16th overall in the 2001 NBA Draft.
