Spotlight on Jon Fixler

A 6-2, 200-pound catcher from Riverwood, Ill., Fixler comes to the Hoosiers from Deerfield High School. He lettered for two years under head coach Kevin Marsh and was listed as one of the top 100 area players by the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune in 2004. Fixler also was mentioned as one the top 100 Midwest Prospects by the Chicago White Sox and invited to the Midwest Area Code Games.
At Deerfield, Fixler batted .465 his senior season with six home runs and 17 doubles on the heels of earning Defensive Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2003. He played for the Summer Lake Forest American Legion team and batted .422 with seven home runs and 35 RBI over 25 games.
In addition to starring on the diamond, Fixler earned two letters in football and was selected first team all-state by the Illinois High School Association at quarterback as a junior and senior. He was chosen all-conference, all-area and named Offensive Player of the Year both seasons as well.
The son of Ken and Julie Fixler has two sisters, Andi and Danielle.
