Chris Moore Named Assistant

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Chris Moore, a volunteer assistant coach at Indiana the past two and a half seasons, has been named assistant baseball coach at IU, head coach Bob Morgan announced Friday. Moore will serve as the Hoosiers hitting coach.
"Coach Morgan gave me my first opportunity here and for him to give me this next opportunity, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can meet his expectations. I think I'll be able to," said Moore. "I have been lucky to work with some great coaches, with Coach Morgan being at the top of that list. What I learned from them, I will bring to the position here and try to make us better and start winning Big Ten Championships."
"Chris has been a loyal, hard-working volunteer assistant for the past two and a half years. The players like him and he is an excellent, knowledgeable teacher. He deserves this opportunity," said Morgan.
Moore joined the Hoosiers after spending the 2000 and 2001 seasons as an assistant coach at Tacoma (Washington) Community College. While at Tacoma CC, he helped guide the team to a school-record 30 wins in both seasons while serving as the hitting coach. In 1999, he was an assistant coach at Ellensburg High School in Washington.
After playing for two seasons (1995-96) at Tacoma CC, Moore finished his collegiate career at Central Washington University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in business administration in 1999. Moore also received a master's degree in education from City University in Tacoma, Wash.
In addition, he served as an assistant coach for Team Northwest in the Goodwill Series against the U.S. Junior National Team and Japanese Junior National Team in 2000. Moore resides in Bloomington.
