Vastag is the highest Hoosier at 12th, while Batty and McGaffigan ranked 24th and 25th, respectively. Williams was the final member of the team to appear in the rankings at 28th. The doubles pair of Batty and McGaffigan rests in 12th overall among Midwest Region teams.
Vastag, a 2004 All-Big Ten honoree, is no stranger to the ITA rankings, as she ranked 37th in the ITA preseason national rankings released this summer. The national winter rankings will be released on Jan. 11. Batty, an All-American in doubles last season, and Vastag ranked 31st this summer in the national doubles poll.
All four players had successful fall campaigns, led by Vastag, who finished second at the Bronco Invitational in the team's first outing this season. The Okemos, Mich., native advanced to the round of 16 at the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional in Minneapolis, Minn., in late October.
Vastag closed the fall with a record of 8-5, while Batty had a mark of 3-1. She, along with McGaffigan, compiled a perfect doubles mark of 4-0. McGaffigan registered a singles tally of 8-4 and Williams had the most singles wins this fall with a 9-3 ledger.
Big Ten member Northwestern had the most singles players ranked in the top-30 with five. Indiana and Notre Dame each had four, while Purdue and Iowa ranked three apiece.
