Hoosiers Fall To Arizona State, 5-2

Tempe, Ariz. – The No. 36 Indiana women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season Sunday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to No. 19 Arizona State. The Hoosiers drop to 4-1 on the season, while the Sun Devils remain a perfect 2-0.
The match began with Arizona State sweeping doubles, with both teams of Sarah Batty and Laura McGaffigan and Martina Grimm and Dora Vastag falling 8-5. Karie Schlukebir and Linda Tran were defeated 8-6.
The Hoosiers were able to come back and take two of the singles matches, but it wasn't enough. Vastag was able to continue her winning ways as she defeated No. 50 Joslynn Burkett, 6-4, 6-4. Sarah Batty picked up the other win for Indiana with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sabrina Capannolo.
The Hoosiers will return to action on Sunday, February 15 at 10 a.m. when they play host to the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils.
