Two Hoosiers Place in Top Five at Stanford Invitational

Stanford, Calif.-- The IU distance runners continued their second day at the Stanford Invitational with top performances from Kelly Siefker who shaved nearly 13 seconds off her personal best in the 3000-meter steeplechase to take a fourth-place finish. She finished with a time of 10:28.86. Siefker’s teammate, Audrey Giesler was not too far behind in the race, as she finished eighth with a time of 10:36.18. Both times met the NCAA regional qualifying standards.
Newly-crowned NCAA Indoor Champion in the mile, Sean Jefferson, took third-place in the 1500-meter with a personal best time of 3:42.81. This time also qualifies Jefferson in the regional qualifying standards as well as the Olympic Trials. Jefferson was the top colliegate runner in this event.
Also on the men’s side, Chris Powers turned in a personal best in the 5000 meter with a time 14:00.43, good for a 14th place finish. Powers’ previous personal best was 14:22.48 in this event.
In the 800-meter, Rodney Hollis finished seventh with a personal best of 1:48.69, which is a regional qualifying time.
