IU Trio Honored by Big Ten

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana senior forward A.J. Moye and sophomore guards Bracey Wright and Marshall Strickland were each named to an All-Big Ten Team, the league office announced today. Wright, the Big Ten's third-leading scorer, was named to the coaches and media second team, while Strickland was an honorable mention coaches selection and Moye was an honorable mention media selection.
In addition to his all-league accolades, Wright is a National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First-Team All-District 10 selection and a finalist for the Naismith and Rupp Awards, each honoring the nation's top player. He is third in the league in scoring at 18.7 ppg and needs 10 points to become the 39th member of Indiana's 1,000 career point club. He is on pace to become just the 10th player in IU history, and the first since 1993 National Player of the Year Calbert Cheaney, to do so in 60 games or less. Wright has scored at least 20 points 11 times this season and has hit the 25-point plateau on seven separate occasions, including a career-high 39 at North Texas on Dec. 29. Wright has earned three Big Ten Player of the Week honors this season and five in his career. Wright and Glen Robinson are the only players in league history to earn at least five Player of the Week honors in their first two seasons. In less than two seasons, Wright is already ninth on Indiana's career three-pointers list with 130.
In 13 Indiana victories, Strickland is averaging 13.2 points per game while hitting .458 from three-point range. Overall, Strickland is second on the team in scoring at 11.5 points per game and has dished out a team-high 78 assists. He is among the Big Ten leaders in league games only assist-to-turnover ratio (1.79). The Winfield, Md., native scored in double figures in a career-high nine straight games from Jan. 31 through March 3, capped by a career-high 21-point effort in a 61-56 victory over Michigan. He also posted a career-high seven assists against Northwestern on Feb. 25.
Moye is the first Indiana player since Jim Thomas (1982, 1983) to lead Indiana in rebounding despite standing shorter than 6-4. The 6-2 senior is eighth in the league at 6.2 boards per game, highlighted by a career-high 15 rebounds (10 defensive) in the March 3 win over Michigan. The Michigan game marked his fourth double-digit rebound effort of the season. In his last five games, he is averaging 9.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. A nominee for The Chip Hilton Award, which honors a graduating senior for outstanding character during the 2003-04 season, Moye initiated his own weekly reading program in the fall of 2003 at Binford Elementary School in Bloomington.
