Senior Kevin Mahar is Indiana's starting leftfielder and has proved to be the Hoosiers' best power hitter in 2004. Mahar leads the Hoosiers with 11 home runs and a 0.736 slugging percentage. Not only do his 11 roundtrippers rank first (the next closest hitter has six) in the Big Ten, but his 0.37 home runs per game are 18th nationally. Mahar's slugging percentage also ranks 28th in the latest NCAA statistics. He also paces IU with a .393 batting average in Big Ten games while hitting .358 overall.
Mahar, who hails from Midland, Mich., played at IU as a freshman before transferring to Lincoln Trail Junior College for his sophomore season. He returned to IU for the 2003 season.
