Indiana Travels to Lady Boilermaker Invitational

The Indiana University women's golf team looks to prepare for Big Ten Championships as it competes in its fifth and final tournament of the spring regular season, when the Hoosiers travel to the Lady Boilermaker Invitational.
The Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex will host the event April 17-18, in West Lafayette, Ind.
The course will be setup as a par 72 and a yardage of 5,900 yards.
The 54-hole event will field 12 teams -Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Purdue, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
The tournament begins Saturday with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. EST with 36 holes being played. The teams will play of the final round with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. EST on Sunday.
The Starting Six
Seniors Karen Dennison, Danah Ford, Ambry Bishop and Mary Lidester, junior Bethany Brunner and sophomore Molly Redfearn will represent Indiana at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational.
Tournament Format
Scoring for the Lady Boilermaker Invitational will be six players with the low four scores from each round counting toward the overall team total.

Dennison Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week
Indiana women's golfer Karen Dennison become the first Hoosier to be named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for the 2004 season after her performance at the Indiana Invitational on April 3-4. This is the first Golfer of the Week honor for Dennison in her career, and only the second time a Hoosier has garnered the honor. Natalie Tucker captured Indiana's first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor for the week of March 28, 2001, after her performance at the San Antonio Shootout.
Dennison, a native of Madison, Ind., won the individual honors at the Indiana Invitational as the only player in the field, which included six Big Ten programs, to finish under par with a four-under-par 218 (76-71-71).
This marks the second time this season she has captured individual honors and the sixth of her career. This was Dennison's first Indiana Invitational win in four attempts. Her best finish previously was in a tie for fifth in 2002. She became the ninth Hoosier to capture individual honors at the Indiana Invitational, as she set a new Indiana individual 54-hole total at the Indiana Invitational with a 218.
A Ranked Field
The latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings that were released April 12, has Indiana ranked 37th in the nation.
Joining Indiana in the Lady Boilermaker Invitational will be six other teams ranked in the top-50 of the latest Golfweek/Sagarin ratings. Michigan State leads the field being ranked 18th, followed by 34th-ranked Texas A&M, 36th-ranked Kent State, 41st-ranked Northwestern, 42nd-ranked and host Purdue and 50th-ranked Michigan.
Last Time at the Lady Boilermaker
Indiana has not competed in the Lady Boilermaker since the tournament was held in the fall of 1987. The Hoosiers finished second with a 617 (307-310).
Hoosiers Capture First Win
The Indiana Hoosiers captured their first collegiate title of the 2003-2004 season with a 896 (297-294-305) at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout in Boerne, Texas on March 21st.
The Hoosiers opened the tournament in second place, one shot back of the leader, Texas Tech.
After the second round, the Hoosiers had climbed into first place, improving on their opening round with a 294. The Hoosiers second round 294, was their third-lowest round of the season and a new IU 18-hole low-round at the BU-Tapatio Springs Shootout.
Indiana entered the final ahead by 10 strokes, and was able to extend its lead to 13 strokes with a 305 for the championship.
This was Indiana's first tournament win since the Hoosiers won the Lady Seahawk Invitational back on April 6, 2003 with an 885.
Dennison, Ford Finish Top-5
The Hoosiers were led to the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout title behind the play of seniors Karen Dennison and Danah Ford who finished second and third, respectively.
Dennison was in a tie for fourth after shooting a 73 in the opening round, but was able to move up the leader board after each round. Dennison moved into third after shooting a 72 in the second round for a total of 145. This was only her fifth round of par or better this season. She then carded a final round 73 to move into a second-place finish with 218 (73-72-73). The Madison, Ind., native has finished in the top-25 in six of seven tournaments this season, including three finishes in the top-10 and individual medalist honors at the Shootout at the Legends.
Ford led the Hoosier squad in third-place after shooting an opening round 72. After two rounds, Ford led not only the Hoosier squad but the tournament field with a 142 (72-70). Her second round 70, tied her career 18-hole low-round and set a new IU individual 18-hole low-round at the BU-Tapatio Springs Shootout. Her 142 set a new career 36-hole low-round for Ford. She finished the tournament with her seventh consecutive top 15 finish, shooting 219 (72-70-77) for third-place. The Indianapolis, native now has five career top five finishes, two this season.
Redfearn In the top 10
Sophomore Molly Redfearn had a career best finish at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout with a sixth-place finish.
After the opening round, Redfearn was tied for eighth after a round of 74. She moved into fifth at 149 after a second round of 75, and shot a final round 76, good for a three-round total of 225 (74-75-76) and a sixth-place finish.
