Ford Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

Bloomington, Ind. - Indiana women's golfer Danah Ford becomes the second Hoosier to be named Big Ten Golfer of the Week for the 2004 season after her performance at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational on April 17-18. This is the first Golfer of the Week honor for Ford in her career, and only the third time a Hoosier has garnered the honor. Natalie Tucker captured Indiana's first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor for the week of March 28, 2001, after her performance at the San Antonio Shootout. Senior Karen Dennison captured the award two weeks ago after she won the Indiana Invitational.
"This is quite a honor," said Ford. "I am so surprise. With so many Big Ten schools at the Lady Boilermaker, for me to receive this honor is great."
Ford, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., won the individual honors at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational by three strokes over her closest opponent in the field, which included nine Big Ten programs, to finish with a 221 (71-68-82).
This marks the first time in Ford's career she has captured individual honors. She became the third Hoosier to capture individual honors at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational, as she set a new career and Indiana individual 36 and 54-hole total at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational with a 139 36-hole 221 54-hole total.
Up next, Ford and the Hoosiers head to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Big Ten Championships. The event will be held at OSU Scarlet Course on Friday-Sunday, April 23-25.
