Three Selected All-Conference

Bloomington, Ind.-- The Collegiate Water Polo Association announced All-Conference selections on Tuesday and the Indiana water polo team was represented by a trio of players. Juniors Krista Peterson, Kandace Waldthaler and Jessica Goldner all earned All-Conference honors.
Walthaler and Peterson were both named first team All-CWPA Western Division selections. The duo led the Hoosier offense throughout the year. Peterson finished the year as only the second Hoosier to amass 50 or more goals in three-straight seasons. She notched her second-straight 60-goal season as she scored 60 this season and 61 in 2003. Peterson was also a first team choice last season. Peterson had a season-best five goals against Bucknell earlier this season and finished with a team-leading nine hat tricks.
Waldthaler was a force on offense as well for the Hoosiers in her first season with the team. She transferred to Indiana after spending her first two years at Sierra College. The Fairfield, Calif., native ranked second on the team in goals with 41. She started all 29 matches for the Hoosiers and also led the team in four-meter penalty shot goals and kickouts drawn. Waldthaler scored four goals on three different occasions in 2004 and ranked second on the team with seven hat tricks.
The duo also garnered one conference Player-of-the-Week accolade apiece as well as CWPA Eastern Championship All-Tournament team honors. Waldthaler won Player of the Week on March 25 for her performance at the Aloha Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was also recognized as a second team All-Tournament selection after scoring six goals in three games at the Eastern Championships.
Peterson earned CWPA Western Division Player of the Week for her performance against Team USA in an exhibition. She netted a hat trick against the defending World Champions. Peterson was named first team All-Tournament at the Eastern Championships. She scored five goals for IU, including a pair against eventual champion Hartwick.
Junior Goalkeeper Jessica Goldner earned second team All-CWPA for the second-straight season. Goldner was impressive all season between the pipes. She notched eight double digit save performances, including a season-high 14 against Hawaii during the Aloha Classic. Goldner also faced a school record 33 shots against No. 8 Michigan in the finals of the Western Division Championships. She finished the year with a goals against average of 4.60 against a schedule that featured 17 of 29 matches against teams ranked in the top 20.
