Mariangee Bogado took the loss for the Hoosiers, pitching two innings, while striking out one. Megan Roark pitched four innings of relief and struck out two. Left fielder Abby Stark led Indiana at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Although the Hoosiers matched the Wolverines in hits with six, errors plagued Indiana for the second-straight day. In the second inning, Michigan popped out to a quick 2-0 lead, scoring two runs on one hit and two Hoosier errors.
The Wolverines tacked on another run in the third when second baseman Tiffany Haas scored on another Hoosier error. In the fifth, Michigan’s fourth and final run came on a solo homerun by Jennifer Olds.
Indiana had a two-out rally in the top of the seventh when Bogado singled and advanced to second on an error. Stark came to the plate and slapped an RBI single to center, scoring Bogado and putting the Hoosier on the board. Although the tying run came to the plate, Indiana was unable to capitalize on any additional scoring opportunities.
The Hoosiers are back in action tomorrow when they take on Bowling Green in a twin bill. The doubleheader is slated for 12:00 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.
