Dennison Fifth, Indiana 11th at NCAA Central Regional

Normal, Ill. - The NCAA Central Regional got underway on Thursday at the University Golf Course in Normal, Ill., and the Indiana women's golf team finds itself in the middle of the pack after 18 holes. A first round 311puts the Hoosiers in 11th place, tied with Oklahoma.
Seniors Karen Dennison and Danah Ford stormed out of the gates on Thursday, carding rounds 2-over-par 73 and 5-over-par 76, which helped IU to its 311. The Hoosier trio of Molly Redfearn, Ambry Bishop and Mary Lidester struggled with rounds of 81, 81 and 82, respectively.
"I started out pretty well and was hitting some good shots, just wasn't making the birdie putts," Dennison said. "I had three disappointing bogeys and made one long birdie putt that kept me going. I just fought in, got some up and downs and felt the wind coming in. It felt good to finish with a 73."
As a team, Dennison leads Indiana at 73, and is tied for fifth overall. Ford is three shots back, tied for 23rd at 76. Bishop and Redfearn enter the second round tied for 70th, while Lidester is tied for 84th.
The Hoosiers will have to make a move up the leader board on Friday during the second round to position themselves for the final round on Saturday. The top eight teams from each of the three regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA finals in Auburn, Ala. in two weeks.
