Valentin Advances to Championships (6-17-04)

Bloomington, Ind.--Junior guard Cyndi Valentin and the Puerto Rican national team defeated Barbados, 63-57, and are scheduled for the championship game tonight against Cuba.

The two teams met just two days ago and Puerto Rico suffered its only loss of the CBC Championship after Cuba defeated them, 107-48.

Reguardless of tonight's the outcome, Puerto Rico will advance to the second round, which will be played from July 20-25 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Should the team advance through the second round, it will compete at the FIBA Americas World Championship Qualifying Tournament in 2005. The site of that tournament has not yet been determined.
