Butwell Advances to Final 16 at English Amateur

HOLINWELL, England - Indiana men's sophomore golfer David Butwell advanced to the round of 16 at the English Amateur at Notts Golf Club.
Butwell defeated last year's runner-up Michael Skelton in the second round. The Southampton native built a 3-up lead after eight holes and held on for the victory.
Skelton pulled to within one hole, but Butwell closed out the match with a 2 and 1 victory on the 17th green.
In the opening round, Butwell downed Mark Gayes 3 and 2.
Butwell closed out his freshman season with a 75.87 scoring average, the 12th-lowest freshman average in school history. He competed in 30 rounds in 10 tournaments. Butwell's best finish was a tie for 15th at the Fossum/TaylorMade Invitational where he carded a 224 (72-74-78).
