IU Announces 2004-05 Schedule (8-12-04)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana University women's basketball team will play a 16-game Big Ten Conference schedule in 2004-05 highlighted by a home and home series with 2004 NCAA Final Four participant Minnesota and 2004 Elite Eight participant Penn State, the league office announced on Thursday.
The Hoosiers will also play Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern, and Ohio State twice during the regular season.
In addition to the two-game series with the Hawkeyes, Golden Gophers, Boilermakers, Wildcats, Nittany Lions and Buckeyes, Indiana will host matchups against Michigan State and Wisconsin. The Hoosiers will play road games at Michigan and Illinois
Indiana is coming off a busy summer in which four players and three coaches journeyed overseas to gain international playing experience. Guard Cyndi Valentin helped her Puerto Rican National team to a second-place finish in the second round of the CBC Championships, and Indiana center Sarah McKay was a member of the Canadian Senior Women's National Team that took part in a four-game exhibition tour in British Columbia.
Head coach Kathi Bennett, along with associate head coach Trish Betthauser, assistant coach Paul Nixon, junior Jenny DeMuth and fifth-year senior Jamie Gathing traveled to Australia to represent Indiana as part of the Big Ten Foreign Tour. The quartet was part of the team that completed the tour undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record.
