Strickland Scores 15 in Victory

Marshall Strickland scored 15 points and added seven rebounds in the Big Ten victory over Marseille-Fos. Marseilles, France - Indiana junior Marshall Strickland scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Big Ten Foreign Tour Team to a convincing 103-68 win over Marseille-Fos basketball club today, helping the squad claim its second win in two days.Iowa's Adam Haluska scored a team-high 16 points and was one of five players to score in double figures. Illinois Warren Carter chipped in with 14 and six and Penn State Nittany Lion Marlon Smith dished out a team-best five assists to go along with 13 points. Michigan State's Delco Rowley rounded out the Big Ten double-figure scorers with 11 points and six rebounds.
Purdue's Brandon McKnight had nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. Dan Coleman of Minnesota had eight points and six boards as well. Amadou Ba had six rebounds to go along with two points.
Playing a four-quarter game, the Big Ten inched out to a 22-17 first quarter lead before blowing things open in the second quarter, outscoring the host team 37-15 to take a 59-32 halftime lead. The Big Ten outscored Fos by three in the third quarter and by five in the final stanza.
The Big Ten squad, led by Penn State assistant coach Kurt Kanaskie (filling in for Penn State head coach Ed DeChellis who underwent surgery last week), out-rebounded Fox 54 to 30, led by the trio of Strickland, Haluska and McKnight, who each had seven.
The Big Ten, now 2-0, will travel to Italy tomorrow and take a day off from playing. The team's next game will be on Monday, when it battles the Casale Monferrato Basketball Club in Casale Monferrato, Italy.
