IU Luncheon Series to Begin

Bloomington, Ind. - Former Indiana football coach Bill Mallory will be the featured speaker at the opening installment of the IU Luncheon presented by Teachers Credit Union on Sept. 1, at the Indianapolis Athletic Club, 350 N. Meridian St.
The event kicks off a six-part monthly luncheon series headlined by six different IU Athletics-related speakers.
Mallory, Indiana's all-time winningest coach with 69 career victories, led the Hoosiers to six bowl appearances in 13 seasons at the helm of the program. In the process of compiling a 165-121-4 record at Miami (Ohio), Colorado, Northern Illinois and Indiana, Mallory became one of only seven coaches to lead three different programs to top 20 finishes in the national polls.
In 1986 and '87, Mallory also became the first coach in Big Ten history to win back-to-back league coach of the year honors.
The 2004 Hoosiers began two-a-day practices on Monday in preparation for the Sept. 4 season opener against Central Michigan. For the first time in his IU tenure, third-year head coach Gerry DiNardo will have the NCAA maximum number of scholarship players (85). The Hoosiers return 18 starters (nine on each side of the ball) and welcome a talented, young recruiting class to Bloomington.
Tickets are $25 each, $135 each for the entire series or $175 for a table of eight at one luncheon. Each event gets underway at 11:30 a.m. with a buffet style meal and will conclude by 1 p.m. All reservations should be directed to Wendi Smith at catering@iacindy.com or 317-686-4149.
