Finlinson Named Asst. Coach (9/30/04)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Head Coach Clint Wallman announced the hiring of former Hoosier Jeana Finlinson as his new assistant coach for the 2004-05 season.
"I see Jeana as a tremendous addition to our program," Wallman said. "She brings a lot to the table. She is incredibly enthusiastic with a love for the University. Additionally, Jeana has Big Ten college golf experience, and is knowledgeable of Bloomington and the surrounding communities. She is going to be an integral part of the team's success throughout the years."
Finlinson, a Greenwood, Ind., native, returns to the Cream and Crimson after playing for the squad from 2001-03. During her playing career, she was a two-year letterwinner for the squad. She also fired a career-low 75 en route to a 29th-place tie at the Indiana State Open with a 156 in 2002. Most remarkably, the sports management graduate did not start playing golf until she was 19, when she snared an ace on the first hole she ever played.
"I am extremely excited to be back at IU," Finlinson said. "I have a passion and love for the entire University and the athletics program as a whole. This is a great opportunity for me to work with Coach Wallman as he has a deep knowledge of the game of golf."
Finlinson will make her coaching debut with the Cream and Crimson over Oct. 4-5, when the Hoosiers battle on the links at the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind.
