Essay/Drawing Winners Announced (1-12-05)

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--The Indiana University Marketing department gave elementary and middle school students the opportunity to enter the NCAA and Indiana University Good Sports Essay and Drawing Contest. Students grades K-8 were invited to participate in the contest with the theme of the essay or drawing being "How can I show that I am a Good Sport at home, in school, and on the basketball court?"

All participants received a free ticket to the women's basketball game vs. Penn State on Sunday, Jan. 16th at 2:00pm where the winner and runners up of each contest will be recognized.

The winner of the both the essay and drawing contest will receive four tickets to the "Pack the Hall" Women's basketball game vs. Purdue on Sunday, Feb. 20th, a t-shirt and an autographed poster. The Runners up of the essay contest will receive four tickets to the "Pack the Hall" women's basketball game and an autographed poster.

This year's contest winners are:

Essay Contest Winner: Shelby Rae (6th grader from Oolotic Jr./Sr. High School)
Runners Up: Caitie Shelton (8th grader from Orleans Jr./Sr. High School) and LaShaun Grady (2nd grader from Meadows Elementary)

Drawing Contest Winner: Mhan Nguyen (6th grader from Custer Baker Middle School)
Runners Up: Ariel Tourne (5th grader from Childs Elementary School) and Katie Marie Yetter (4th grader from St. Charles School)
