Practice Report for 1/17

January 17, 2005
Associate Head Coach Kerry Rupp
On offensive performance
KR: "I think the team is taking a more aggressive approach. We are trying to do some different things. We are still struggling at times. When we have a good offense, it seems like we are having good player and ball movement and when are struggling it seems we are standing around. We are going to continue to be a work in progress."
On D.J. White's play
KR: "D.J. is doing a better job as the season goes on. He is continually improving his game. There are still things he needs to work on though."
Freshman Guard/Forward James Hardy
On progress
JH: "I feel that I am up to speed in certain areas. I am still trying to knock down my shot. I am just trying to do whatever I have to do to stay on the floor. I am coming to practice early and staying late to work on my shot."
On confidence level
JH: "I told myself when I get a shot I am going to make it. My confidence is there and is growing everyday. I am just taking it day by day."
On playing the power forward position
JH: "It's tough, but coach told me that it's the quickest way I can get playing time, so that is what I am doing. It gives me an opportunity to work on my inside game."
Junior Guard Marshall Strickland
On the backcourt of Bracey and Marshall
MS: "Both Bracey and I have been through a lot. We are not the type of guys who give up easily. We are going to fight and try to win every game and play as hard as we can.
On importance of Big Ten home games
MS: "We have to win the home games. Michigan is going to be tough because they match up fairly well with us and Ohio State is a different team than last year. Winning at home game is the key to winning the Big Ten. Last season, we lost too many at home. This year we take care of home games and steal a couple on the road we will be in good position."
