A 6-3, left-handed pitcher from Lincoln Trail Junior College, Poole will vie for a spot in the starting rotation in 2005. Following his freshman year at Lincoln Trail, the junior was taken in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners.
In 2003, Poole compiled a 4-2 record, tossing five complete games and three shutouts for head coach Mitch Hannahs. Additionally, he posted 46 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings of work, walking only 18 batters en route to being named all-conference.
Poole attended Orleans High School in Orleans, Ind., where he was a four-year letterwinner. During his senior campaign, he went 11-3 and led his team to a sectional championship.
The son of Ralph and Dewon Poole has three siblings, Amber Hein (31), Autumn Robbins (29) and Aaron Poole (23). Adam plans to study therapeutic recreation.
HEAD COACH BOB MORGAN ON POOLE:
"Adam is a solid left-handed pitcher with a good fastball and great change up. We look for Adam to be one of our top pitchers, and he should get a lot of innings and hopefully be a Big Ten starter."
POOLE ON CHOOSING IU:
"I am a family guy, and Indiana is close to home. I also chose IU because I liked the campus."
