"BenJarvus came to me and said that he would like to pursue some other opportunities closer to home," Hoeppner said. "He has been a solid contributor here the last two years, and we wish him the best."
Green-Ellis closed his Indiana career by rushing for 1,732 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons. He had four 100-plus-yard rushing efforts as a freshman in 2003, including a 203-yard effort at Penn State, marking just the third time in school history that a freshman (Anthony Thompson and Alex Smith are the others) ran for at least 200 yards in a game. He earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors from the The Sporting News in 2003.
His top single-game effort as a sophomore came when he gained 115 yards at Kentucky on Sept. 18. He finished the year with 794 yards on 231 carries. The New Orleans native was also fifth on the team in receiving with 14 receptions for 80 yards.
