Hoosiers Preseason No. 11

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Indiana women's water polo team is ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Women's Preseason top 20. The Hoosiers were ranked ninth in the 2004 preseason poll and finished the year ranked 13th. IU spent 11 of 15 weeks ranked among the top 10 in the national poll a season ago.
Indiana will open up the 2005 schedule with a pair of difficult matches at the Michigan Invitational. The Hoosiers will take on No. 1 UCLA on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 10:15 a.m. Indiana will then face No. 9 Michigan at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Indiana will close out the invite against Colorado State at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday.
The Hoosier schedule is loaded with ranked foes. Indiana will battle No. 2 USC, No. 5 Long Beach State, No. 6 Cal, No. 7 Hawaii, No. 9 Michigan for a second time, No. 12 San Jose State, No. 13 UC-Davis, No. 16 Arizona State and No. 18. UC-Irvine. The list of ranked opponents on the Hoosier schedule does not include No. 10 UC-Santa Barbara's Invitational on Feb. 25-27.
